Smosh Returns: Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox Reunite for Classic Sketch Comedy

YouTube stars Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox have announced the return of the "classic" Smosh, the popular comedy sketch and improv channel that they co-founded all those years ago.

After a six-year split, Padilla and Hecox have purchased Smosh from Mythical Entertainment, expressing their desire to bring back the magic of their earlier content. They stated that fans can expect good, old-fashioned sketch comedy written by and starring both of them, signaling the revival of the beloved channel.

In 2017, Padilla had left Smosh due to creative differences after the channel was acquired by Defy Media. A year later, Defy Media's closure left the future of Smosh uncertain. However, Ian and the team continued producing content, and Smosh was later acquired by Rhett and Link's Mythical Entertainment. With their recent acquisition, Padilla and Hecox plan to reignite the spirit of classic Smosh, while the fate of Smosh's other channels and the impact on Anthony's interview series and Ian's personal content remains unclear. Rhett and Link, the founders of Mythical Entertainment, have congratulated Anthony and Ian on their new chapter, expressing their pride in the accomplishments achieved during their time together and their optimism for the future of the channel.
